A FIRE calculator that starts from your real numbers
Most retirement calculators ask you to guess what you spend and what you have. FIRE Mission reads your actual statements in your browser, then shows when your investments, pension and Social Security could cover your life.

What it shows
- Earliest age you could stop working, year by year to 95, in today's dollars.
- Your FIRE number: what your investments must cover after lifelong income, at the withdrawal rate you choose.
- Taxes in retirement: pre-tax, Roth and taxable buckets, required minimum distributions, and up to 85% of Social Security taxed.
- When to start Social Security: 62, full retirement age or 70, with lifetime tax and what's left at 95, including a spouse's benefit.
- Loans that end: mortgage payoff years read from Form 1098, with property tax and insurance kept after payoff.
What it reads
Bank and credit card exports (CSV, OFX, QFX), brokerage and 401(k) statements, pay stubs, W-2s, 1099-Rs, 1098s, your Social Security statement from ssa.gov, military LES and DFAS retiree account statements. You can also type balances in.
Your actual return
When an account's statements cover a period, FIRE Mission separates what you added from what the market earned and shows the account's yearly return, so you can use it instead of a guess.
Questions
Is FIRE Mission free?
Yes. There is no account, no sign-up and no paid tier.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The page reads files inside your browser, like a PDF viewer. Nothing is sent to a server, and nothing is stored except your answers in your own browser.
Is this financial advice?
No. It is a tool for seeing your own numbers. It shows what the numbers do under the assumptions you set.
